I believe the most important thing in life is family. My mission is all about raising money for the Gold Shield Foundation by running Ultra-Marathons. The Gold Shield Foundation provides support to the families of Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Rescue personnel, when they are killed in the line of duty. One of the ways they provide support is by making it possible for the fallen warrior's surviving spouse and children to go to college tuition free.
All donations go directly to the Gold Shield Foundation. I pay for all my race entry fees, nutritional needs, crew expense, and medical aid if needed. A Ultra-Marathon consists of anything past the traditional 26.2 mile marathon. Typically you will see Ultra-Marathons in the form of 50k, 50 miles, 100 miles, and 150 miles. There are also 12, 24, and 48 hour races, which are held around a certified track to see how many miles you can accomplish during that time frame.
